A bit of this all, is the obvious answer, but what is the binding element? It is easy to see how a reader can get annoyed at ondraglijke author’s getting lost in his philosophical musings so very often. Kundera is an unconventional writer, to say the least. Sabina and Tomas, for example, have their own understandings of a derby hat, understandings that are both mutual and individual, all different from the puzzlement and misunderstanding that Franz feels in the presence of the same object.
Although I have not had the jet of reading Karenina yet, I am very familiar with Tolstoy’s works and I understand he too was quite insensitive to women’s needs and tended to be self-focused. He keeps insisting that he cares for each and ds one of these women, but the sheer numbers and the continual growth of those numbers contradict that.

Deze zomer leest Arjen Fortuin dezelfde boeken als 25 jaar geleden, in zijn eerste zomer als volwassene. He comes in and explains how he is not just telling a story, but investigating human lives. If one hovers one’s cursor over the stars, it is apparent that we ondraalgijke rating the extent to which we actually liked the book.

The face is nothing but an instrument panel registering all the body mechanisms: Each of his main characters tries to craft meaning for himself — Tomas in light of his calling as besfaan physician and his refusal to compromise his political convictions, Tereza by way of her determination to be faithful in love to Tomas, Sabrina in her insistence on betraying the expectations of others rather than conforming to their desires — but an overall and commonly accepted meaning is elusive.
I really enjoyed the easy, conversational tone, and I didn’t mind Kundera inserting himself into the narration to make his points.

I would like to reread it. The part when Tomas’ hair smelled like vagina, and after months of enduring this smell Tereza asks Tomas to go wash his hair? That is why man cannot be happy: Often the choice is not between perfection and imperfection, it is a trade-off.
Apparently Tomas is thoughtful enough to shower after each encounter, scrubbing himself practically raw, but doesn’t wash his hair, which he had just been rubbing on–you guessed it! It’s a saying that means nothing and everything. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
I have to admit the story did keep me intrigued and curious enough to want to finish it, but overall I didn’t enjoy it. In The Unbearable Lightness of BeingMilan Kundera tells the story of a young woman in love with a man torn between his love for her and his incorrigible womanizing and one of his mistresses and her humbly faithful lover. But Kundera wraps it up in a seemingly light-footed story, cut up in very short bits and parts, making the novel rather digestable.

Sometimes it can be a burden too. I think this book is very highly affected by the time period that it comes from.
