Joswph special effects is essentially animating energy. It is truly a great guide, showing by example step by step processes of execution, but it’s not just a “how to” manual, not even close. This one as well was done first as a water colour wash on the blank canvas, done with two different hues of blue.

Elemental Magic is a tremendously helpful resource that aims to help animators think through their approach before execution, to save time and effort without sacrificing quality.
