It is difficult to find a good graduate level public economics book which covers not only the traditional public finance but also public choice theory, both of which are now together called ‘Public Economics’.

The book covers the theory and methodology of public economics; presents a historical and theoretical overview of the public sector; and discusses such hinvriks as departures from efficiency including imperfect competition and asymmetric informationissues in political economy, equity, taxation, fiscal federalism, and tax competition among independent jurisdictions.
