A quick and easy read that provides a lot of interesting and helpful information on wine for someone such as me who is little more than a beginner on the subject.
There was very little information on the white wines of both states and absolutely none on the reds. It’s divided up into 8 courses and additional ancillary chapters, all of which deserve careful attention. The content is well organized and easy to follow. He gives you context. This freshly redesigned edition demystifies every aspect of wine; from grape varieties and their flavours, types of wines and how they’re produced, to the latest developments in the winemaking industry, how to read a wine label and the physiology of winows and taste.
You could learn a lot from this book if you really used it as a coursebook.
In particular, I love how the author breaks down how to taste wine and what to look for in a simple way. I’m sure ill pick this one up again in the future, it’s just that I’m not that excited to do so. There is so much information in here – on the different regions, different varieties etc.
Abundant full-color labels and maps complete the enticing picture. Any Condition Any Condition. I understand more about it now, such as how it’s made, where it’s made, which countries produce wine the most, flavor and scents, how to taste wine, and what a sommelier does.
Gives a brief overview of winemaking. Thought it was a great overview for myself who has primarily been a beer drinker keviin my life. Revised and Expanded Edition.

Return to Book Page. Don’t go for this one if you are a beginner, it’s a bit confusing; I found the sraly inaccessible outside of the classroom setting.
It covers red and white wines, champagne, sherry and port. I’m sure ill pick this one up again in the future, it’s just that I’m not that excited to I haven’t yet made my way through this book entirely, but my impressions at my current stopping point have me favoring the other wine books I have over this one, which is why I’m putting it down for now.
I should also note that the multimedia functionality that this edition boasts is nothing more than a few very short videos minutes that tell you the same info already contained in the book. A thorough, detailed book on everything wine, perfect for someone at the level who really wants to dig into the subject but not be overwhelmed.
Zraly seems to be coming from the attitude that there is a correct and an incorrect in understanding wine, a rigidity that I do not personally value. Still, it got me started, though I think I was already started before reading it. It was written well sorld beginning to end.
